sathyalOka!
The abode of brahmA (four faced lord) – filled all around with Goddess saraswathi’s grace!
Celestial angels were dancing on one side. Gifted singers were singing everywhere.
brahmA and his consort saraswathi were seated on a white lotus.
brahmA – Celebrated as the four faced God! He is referred as hiraNyagarbha by vEdhas and vEdhanthas. Known for his famed place of birth – naval of SrIman nArAyaNa, he inherited vEdhas – the unwritten (by anyone) treasure.
He is praised for his immense knowledge. Of course, with four heads and mastery of vEdhAnhgas (ancillary portions) and vEdhAnthas, no wonder he has unlimited knowledge.
Added to this, is his spouse by his side, who is Goddess of knowledge.
Even AzhwArs sing in praise of brahmA as the one filled with gyAna inherited from SrIman nArAyaNa.
Yes! His glory is universally acknowledged. So, even when dhEvas are in doubt or distress, they approach him. Now and then dhEvas approach rudhra also for redressal of their grievances. The three eyed God would in turn take them to brahmA himself.
brahmA would sort out the problems himself if it is within his powers. If not, he would lead them to SrIman nArAyaNa, resting on the ocean of milk.
So, dhEvas would depend on Siva who in turn is dependent of his father brahmA. brahmA would surrender at the lotus feet of His father, the Lord Supreme – SrIman nArAyaNa.
Through his prayers to the Supreme Lord, with divine grace, brahmA helps dhEvas relieve their distress. So, brahmA and his preachings enjoy a special reverence in the heavenly abode.
dhEvas praise brahmA for his words of wisdom which are always the truth, living up to the name of his abode “sathyalOka”.
brahmA also enjoys the reverence showered by dhEvas towards him!
Once there arose a dispute among dhEvas. “Who was the best among women?” With no satisfactory response coming in, they sought brahmA’s verdict.
brahmA was as usual elated by the reverence of dhEvas. He instantly knew the answer..
Goddess saraswathi and all his maids expected him to tell her name. brahmA also loved to utter the name of her consort. But having mastered vEdhas, how can he speak untruth?
He smiled at saraswathi and uttered “SrI mahAlakshmi – the greatest among Goddess is the best among women” as the reply to the query. He spoke the truth without realizing it’s after effects. He had to face the consequence.
saraswathi’s eyes turned red. Trembling with rage, she starred at brahmA, her eyes spitting fire.
She gleaned at her maids. They inferred that their queen is about to change her residence and started preparing. Not knowing what to do, brahmA was looking in all the four directions. He had a face for each direction conveniently.
saraswathi got ready for departing. She simply said “leaving”, but did not say why or where. brahmA too did not dare ask her.
We humans scratch our head in times of difficulty. Now, which of the four heads will brahmA scratch? He struggled, did not know what to do.
Goddess of words renounced her husband. She started penance on the bank of river that bore her name. He was saddened. But still he was happy that he spoke only the truth that Goddess of wealth lakshmi is the greatest among women.
His happiness did not last. bruhaspathi, the preceptor of dhEvas and others approached brahmA with another problem.
What was the problem?
We will come to know shortly!!
