After hearing iLaiyAzhwAr piLLai recite SrISailESa dhayApAthram, rAmANuja aiyangAr and others were in wonderment.

(ayOdhyA rAmAnuja aiyangAr was wondering as to how this thaniyan, which was mercifully told him in his dream by this murAri bhagavAn (krishNa, who had destroyed the demon mura), who resides permanently in badhrikASramam, and which contains all the meanings of thirumanthram, was recited by these people). rAmAnuja aiyangAr told them “This thaniyan was mercifully given to us by SrI badhrikASramap perumAL in our dreams. How did this thaniyan reach you?” They narrated to him, the following:
Just as it has been conveyed by the verse “AchinOthihiSAsthrArthAth” (one who reveals the meanings of SAsthrams is AchAryan), it was perumAL who had recited this thaniyan in SrIrangam just as in this abode too (badhrikASramam) he had recited periya thirumanthram (praNavam) in the form of naranArAyaNap perumAL. In order to reveal the full meanings of dhivyaprabandham, which are the essence of that thirumanthram, perumAL had decided in his divine mind to ask AdhiSEshan to reincarnate as maNavALa mAmunigaL, in line with the sthOthra rathnam verse “yathOchitham SEsha ithIrithE” (he is called as SEshan since he takes many forms, based on the time, as a means of carrying out servitude). AdhiSEshan too incarnated in line with that servitude and carried out the commentary for dhivyaprabandham as a highly skilled person. To enable his glories to become resplendent, bhagavAn requested jIyar to give the discourses for Idu (commentary for thiruvAimozhi). jIyar too took it as a great kainkaryam and conducted the upanyAsam (discourse) for Idu. When it came to offering AchArya sambhAvanai (honouring the AchAryan), perumAL pervaded a five year old boy, going by the name ranganAyagam (son of archakar) and recited the thaniyan. Then, through appiLLai, he brought out the vAzhi thirunAmam [praising the divine names] too for maNavALa mAmunigaL so that at the start of reciting dhivyaprabandham, one would start with the thaniyan SrISaliESa dhayApAthram and at the end of dhivyaprabandha sARRu (recitation), the vAzhi thirunAmams would be recited. perumAL, through a message from vishvaksEnar, sent it to all the dhivya dhESams starting from thirumalai, perumAL kOyil etc as brought out by the SlOkam

(This SlOkam was mercifully recited by SrI ranganAtha regarding maNavALa mAmunigaL. A message was sent by SrI sEnai mudhaliyAr (vishvaksEnar) to all the dhivyadhEsams that this thaniyan should be recited at the beginning. From that time onwards, this has been recited in perumAL sannidhis, at the beginning). thiruvEngadamudaiyAn had told the brAhmaNa who was undertaking pilgrimage to various dhivyadhESams
upathishtam mayAsvapnE dhivyam padhyamidham Subham
varayOgisamASrithya bhavatha: syAdh param padham
(this SlOkam, which is very distinguished and auspicious, has been instructed to you in your dream. If you take refuge under maNavALa mAmunigaL, you will attain paramapadham (SrIvaikuNtam)). perumAL then enabled the brAhmaNa to take refuge under jIyar’s divine feet, as brought out by the SlOkam
ithyukthvAdham vrushAdhrISO SrIpAdhadhrENumEvacha
thathvASuprEshayAmAsa gachchayOgivaram Suchim
(Saying this way, thiruvEngadamudaiyAn gave him the divine dust from the feet and told him to proceed to the most sacred maNavALa mAmunigaL), giving him SrISatakOpan and SrIpAdharENu. That brAhmaNa too reached mAmunigaL and took refuge under him. In a similar way, thirumAlirunjOlai azhagar mercifully instructed this thaniyan to one sEnai mudhaliyAr, who had connection with jIyar’s divine feet. Thus, iLaiyAzhwAr narrated how the thaniyan had reached him.
