avathArikai (Introduction)

piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains that her advice will have benefit for both ISvara and chEthanas.

sUthram 12

upadhESaththAlE iruvarudaiyavum karma pArathanthryam kulaiyum.

Simple Explanation

With her advice, the dependency on karma for both ISvara and chEthanas, will be destroyed.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

upadhESaththAlE …

That is – when she advises both ISvara and chEthanas matching their situation, the karma pArathanthryam of both (a) chEthana who gets pulled by his karma and turning his face away from bhagavAn and (b) ISvara who vows to react primarily based on such chEthana’s karma and refuses protect him, will be eliminated.

The karma pArathanthryam of chEthana is due to avidhyA (ignorance) which is based on eternal connection with achith (matter); ISvara’s karma pArathanthryam is due to his own vow which is based on his supreme independence. Though these have been present without any beginning, there is nothing wrong in these getting eliminated by the purushakAram of pirAtti who is trustworthy towards the chEthana due to her motherly relationship and who is very dear towards ISvara due to her spousal relationship, by making both the chEthana and ISvara receptive towards performing surrender [to ISvara] and accepting the surrender [of chEthana] respectively.
