avathArikai (Introduction)

When asked “SrI guhap perumAL and his servants just saw him when he arrived there and were not familiar with him previously. In such a case, how did they get such emotions towards him?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains.

sUthram 248

oru nAL mugaththilE vizhiththavargaLai vadivazhagu paduththum pAdAyththidhu.

Simple Explanation

This is how perumAL’s beauty torments those who just saw his face once.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

oru nAL …

That is – this is how the unique beauty of his divine form torments those who have just seen his face once instead of seeing for a long time. The beauty of bhagavAn’s divine form is such that whether those who are seeing him constantly (nithyasUris and mukthAthmAs) or those who have seen him just once, will be blinded by love and start unnecessarily fearing for him and even those who are devoted towards him will perform mangaLASAsanam and care for him.
