avathArikai (Introduction)

As a further example for this principle, piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains the mangaLASAsana nishtai (firm state of performing mangaLASAsanam) of AzhwArs who are more distinguished than those who were explained previously.

Simple Explanation

When we look at the position of AzhwArs, these personalities (previously explained) can be seen in our position. [Just as there is stark difference between our position and the previously explained personalities who performed mangaLASAsansam, there is stark difference between them and AzhwArs].

piLLai lOkAchAryar is talking about the previously explained personalities starting with dhaSaratha chakravarthi. In that case, can pirAtti be included in them? Just as periyAzhwAr is more glorified in mangaLASAsanam even when compared to nammAzhwAr who is the chief among AzhwArs, due to the deeper involvement of AzhwArs in mangaLASAsanam unlike pirAtti who is more captivated in enjoying bhagavAn, that can be said. Still, can it be said as “nammudaiya kOtiylE” (in our group)? Since it is said to establish the firm involvement of AzhwArs in this mangaLASAsanam, there is nothing wrong in it. Thus, having a bewildered mind on thinking about bhagavAn’s distinguished nature, those who were highlighted previously in caring for bhagavAn, were thinking “What will happen to him?”

They are seen similar to us who are not having overwhelming love and thus being not fully interested in performing mangaLASAsanam to bhagavAn even though we are engaged in him.

AzhwArgaL nilai

The firm attachment towards performing mangaLASAsanam, in AzhwArs who are with overwhelming love due to being divinely blessed by bhagavAn as said in thiruvAimozhi 1.1.1 “mayarvaRa madhinalam aruLinan” (emperumAn bestowed clear knowledge and devotion).
