avathArikai (Introduction)
Thus, piLLai lOkAchAryar revealed the salient features of each of these (unfavourable) persons through the differences in their purpose, means and goal; subsequently, he reveals the distinction between those three persons who are not attached to bhagavAn and those two persons who are attached to bhagavAn.
sUthram 266
mudhal sonna mUvarum nigrahaththukku ilakku; maRRai iruvarum anugrahaththukku ilakku.
Simple Explanation
The first three persons are target of bhagavAn’s anger; the other two persons are target of his mercy.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
mudhal sonna mUvarum …
That is – those three persons who don’t know beyond considering (a) body to be self, (b) self to be independent and (c) self to be subservient to other dhEvathAs and hence are totally detached from bhagavAn, are target of bhagavAn’s anger as said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 16.19 “kshipAmi …” (I push them into lowly births); those two persons who have understood the true nature of the self to be beyond matter and are exclusively subservient to bhagavAn, and who consider enjoying bhagavAn and serving him as the goal, and hence being focussed only on kainkaryam, and are engaged in (a) other upAyams such as karma yOgam, gyAna yOgam and bhakthi yOgam, and (b) prapaththi, are target of bhagavAn’s mercy as said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 10.10 “dhadhAmi” (I bestow [the knowledge]) and SrI bhagavath gIthA 18.66 “mOkshayishyAmi” (I will free you from all sins)
