vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
upakAra smruthikku …
upakAra smruthikku mudhaladi, AchAryan pakkal kruthagyathai
Since the chEthana meditates upon AchArya who helped him attain bhagavAn by revealing everything which was unknown to him previously, this is the first stage of gratitude. kruthagyathai and upakAra smruthi are synonyms.
mudindha nilam, ISvaran pakkal kruthagyathai
As one understands the greatness of the AchArya, one will subsequently meditate upon the series of efforts put in by ISvara who brought him close to such AchArya. Hence, the ultimate stage of gratitude will be towards ISvara.
With this, it is said that when one meditates upon AchArya who bestowed bhagavAn, one will deeply realise such AchArya’s greatness, and will think “Did we not get such AchArya due to emperumAn?” and will end up meditating upon such favour.
