avathArikai (Introduction)

piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains the result of both AchArya and Sishya taking care of both aspects.

sUthram 334

iraNdum iruvarkkum svarUpamumAy, bhagavath kainkaryamumAy irukkum.

Simple Explanation

Both of these aspects will be true nature and service for both of them.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

iraNdum …

That is – since (a) caring for Sishya’s true nature being an AchArya and (b) caring for AchArya’s true nature being a Sishya, are distinguished states for both the AchArya and Sishya, they will be true nature for both of them; since (a) caring for Sishya, AchArya reforms the true nature of AthmA who is qualified to be bhOgyam (enjoyment) for emperumAn as said in thaiththirIya upanishath “aham annam” (I am [his] food) since time immemorial, and did not remain in that manner (b) caring for AchArya’s divine form which is very enjoyable for bhagavAn that he cannot tolerate separation from it as said in thiruvAimozhi 10.7.4 “nangennudalam kai vidAn” (he will surely not give up my body), are both very enjoyable to bhagavAn, these will naturally be kainkaryam for bhagavAn.
