avathArikai (Introduction)
Though we cannot attribute the defects, which are said for lowly [worldly] aspects, to bhagavAn, there appears to be some defects such as “not continuously giving his union to those who are totally devoted to him, and separating from them and giving them sorrow” etc and is said in thiruvAimozhi 5.3.5 “kadiyan kodiyan” (cruel, evil); can these become reasons to leave him?
sUthram 417
dhOsham uNdAnAlum guNam pOlE upAdhEyamAy irukkum.
Simple Explanation
Even if there are defects [in bhagavAn], they will be acceptable, similar to [his] qualities.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
dhOsham uNdAnAlum …
That is – even when such defects are [apparently] present and seen when devotees are in suffering due to separation, since those defects make them pursue him more as said in the same pAsuram “kodiya en nenjam avan enRE kidakkum” (my cruel heart will remain attached to him only], they will be acceptable like qualities to eagerly pursue him.
