avathArikai (Introduction)

The result of such vivEkam (ability to distinguish) is explained here.

chUrNikai 2

vivEka palam vIdu paRRu.

Simple Explanation

The result of the ability to distinguish is to abandon what is to be given up and pursue what is to be accepted.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

That is – the result of distinguishing between good and bad, with the help of the knowledge given by bhagavAn, is to abandon what is to be given up and pursue what is to be accepted. nAyanAr is saying “vIdu paRRu” instead of “thyAga svIkAram” due to considering AzhwAr’s divine words as in thiruvAimozhi 1.2.1vIdumin muRRavum” (abandon completely) and thiruvAimozhi 1.2.5aRRu iRai paRRE” (giving up attachments towards everything else and submit to

ISvara).
