Previously, nAyanAr mercifully explained AzhwAr’s birth to be the same as vyAsa and krishNa. Subsequently, he mercifully explains the distinction between them.

krishNa krishNa dhvaipAyanOthpaththigaL pOlanRE krishNa thrushNA thathva janmam.
Simple Explanation
Birth of nammAzhwAr, who is known as krishNa thrushNA thathvam (embodiment of krishNa bhakthi), is more distinguished than the birth of krishNa and krishNa dhvaipAyana (vyAsa).
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
That is – krishNa is described as in thiruppAvai 25 “oruththi maganAyp piRandhu Oriravil oruththi maganAy” (One who is born as the son of the distinguished dhEvaki and on a night, went to gOkulam to be raised as the son of the distinguished yaSOdhA); vyAsa is the son of a virgin (fisher-woman); unlike their births, AzhwAr’s birth is greatly glorified as in thiruviruththam 37 “kaNNan nINmalarppAdham paravippeRRa” (we begot this parAnkuSa nAyaki by praying at the lengthy divine feet of krishNa), since he remains as the embodiment of thirst towards krishNa as said in SrIrangarAja sthavam 1.6 “krushNa thrushNA thathvamivOdhitham” (he is embodiment of krishNa bhakthi).
