<< 4 – Killing of SakatAsura

Salvation of Trnavarta -- Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead

Let us now see an incident from the phase of krishNa coming to a sitting posture.

In gOkulam, once krishNa was sitting on the ground. A demon named thruNAvartha, who was sent by kamsa, arrived there. He was intent on killing krishNa by assuming the form of a huge whirlwind.

First he created a great storm there and caused dust to spread everywhere. He lifted up krishNa and flew to the sky. He covered the eyes of all the residents of the town with that dust. He also created a tumultuous sound to cause fear in everyone.

At that time, mother yaSOdhA who was there, could not see krishNa and could not understand the situation. She fell down and started crying. The gOpikAs there also joined yaSOdhA and started crying.

thruNAvarththa who flew into the sky, tried to kill krishNa. But krishNa made himself very heavy and made it difficult for the demon to carry him. Subsequently, being unable to carry the weight of krishNa, he lost his breath, crashed down on the ground with a great sound and died. Everyone there became frightened seeing that. The gOpikAs, who were there, observed krishNa sitting on the demon without any danger and with a smile, carried him and handed him over to yaSOdhA.

The essence of this incident,

  • Irrespective of the power of the enemy who comes to attack bhagavAn, he will easily destroy such enemies.
  • Every time there is danger, bhagavAn protects himself and this world. Hence, we should fully surrender unto him only.
