avathArikai (Introduction)

When asked “Since the chEthana is a natural servitor and bhagavAn is a natural lord, both of them can approach each other directly. But why are they approaching each other through mediators?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains.

sUthram 152

iruvaur munnidugiRadhum thandhAm kuRRangaLai SamippikkaikkAga.

Simple Explanation

Both approach each other through mediators to make the other person tolerate their mistakes.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

iruvar …

The mistake of the chEthana is being away from bhagavAn forever, being engaged in worldly pleasures, having the accumulated offense of violating bhagavAn’s orders; the mistake of ISvara is to keep pushing away the chEthana looking at his offense forever though the chEthana has natural relationship with ISvara.

Subduing chEthana’s mistake – to make ISvara not show his anger looking at chEthana’s mistake; subduing ISvara’s mistake – to make the chEthana not fear thinking about ISvara’s anger.
