Thus, in the previous two sentences [sUthrams], piLLai lOkAchAryar revealed the importance of performing kainkaryam and the disaster which will occur when kainkaryam is not performed; subsequently, he is eliminating the thought of kainkaryam being the means [to attain something else].

Instead of having kainkaryam as the means to attain something else, it should be the end goal.
