avathArikai (Introduction)
No specific introduction.
sUthram 59
idhu iraNdaiyum poRAdhu.
Simple Explanation
This (prapaththi) will not tolerate both (self and others).
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
idhu iraNdaiyum poRAdhu.
That is, this prapaththi which is the acceptance of sidhdhOpAyam, in the form of abandoning all efforts, adhikAri viSEshaNam (an inherent nature of the self), not contrary to the true nature of the self, will not tolerate both (self and others). Hence, upAyathvam (being the means) is inapt for this prapaththi which is different from both sidhdhOpAyam and sAdhyOpAyam.
Alternative connection for sUthrams 55 to 59.
idhu thanakku svarUpam …
When asked “In that case, what is the true nature of this prapaththi along with limbs, which is ordained in SAsthram, and what are the limbs?” piLLai lOkAchAryar is mercifully explaining them in sequence in 55th and 56th sUthrams.
When asked “Which upAyam will tolerate self?” he mercifully explains that in 57th sUthrams.
When asked “Which upAyam will tolerate both self and others?” he mercifully explains that in 58th sUthram.
He concludes the meanings which were explained highlighting the difference between prapaththi and both sidhdhOpAyam and sAdhyOpAyam in 59th sUthram. In this manner, these sUthrams are connected.
Another connection.
To establish the anupAyathvam (not being the means) of prapaththi, piLLai lOkAchAryar is mercifully explaining the true nature and the limbs of prapaththi on his own, in 55th and 56th sUthrams.
To firmly establish the anupAyathvam of prapaththi, having the desire in his divine heart, to reveal the nature of sidhdhOpAyam and sAdhyOpAyam, first he mercifully explains the nature of sidhdhOpAyam in 57th sUthram.
Subsequently, he mercifully explains the nature of sAdhyOpAyam in 58th sUthram.
Subsequently, he reveals the distinguished nature of prapaththi in comparison to sidhdhOpAyam and sAdhyOpAyam. The connection between these sUthrams, can also be seen in this manner.
Both the alternative connections will have the same explanation as explained originally.
