avathArikai (Introduction)
When asked “In this manner, if there is nothing in the chEthana which qualifies as upAyam (means), what is the means that gets him the result?” piLLai lOkAchAryar responds.
sUthram 66
“un manaththAl en ninaindhirundhAy” engiRapadiyE prApthikku upAyam avan ninaivu.
Simple Explanation
As said in periya thirumozhi 2.7.1 “un manaththAl en ninaindhirundhAy” (What did you think in your divine heart?) the means for the attainment of the goal is emperumAn’s thought.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
un manaththAl …
That is – since nothing in the chEthana qualifies to be the means, as said in periya thirumozhi 2.7.1 “un manaththAl en ninaindhirundhAy” – as thirumangai AzhwAr meditated upon bhagavAn, the well-wisher thinking “What are you thinking in your divine heart, where you can find a refuge for even those who are completely fallen?”, the means to attain him is – the thought of bhagavAn who is sarvagya (omniscient), sarvaSakthi (omnipotent), prAptha (apt lord) and paramadhayALu (most merciful), towards uplifting the chEthana.
