Simple Explanation

Will the places which have the stench of fish and butter match the place where fragrance of thuLasi is present?

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

That is – Will the birth places of vyAsa, which has the stench of fish, and krishNa, which has the stench of butter, match the abode where AzhwAr incarnated and where the fragrance of the divine thuLasi is present, which shows connection with bhagavAn. Fish and butter are outcome of matter and hence their smell has to be discarded; but thuLasi worn by bhagavAn is divine and hence its fragrance is to be pursued. With this, the greatness of AzhwAr’s birth which happened in such abode over their birth which happened in such places has been shown.
