விஷமஸ்ருஷ்டியும் கூடாது.

vishama srushtiyum kUdAdhu.

Meaning

If there is only one AthmA, then unequal creation (vishama srushti) would also not be possible.

Explanation

Another inconsistency

piLLai lOkAchAryar points out yet another defect in the doctrine of a single AthmA.

If there is only one soul, then the lord could not create beings in diverse conditions.

For example, among beings such as dhEvas and others:

  • some are endowed predominantly with happiness,
  • some predominantly with sorrow,
  • and some experience a mixture of both.

Such unequal creation (vishama srushti) would become impossible if there were only one AthmA.

The cause of unequal creation

The reason for this unequal creation is:

  • the plurality of individual souls (jIva-bhEdha), and
  • the differences in their karmas (karma-thArathamya).

Therefore, jIva-bhEdha together with karma-thArathamya alone explains the lord’s diverse creation.
