avathArikai (Introduction)
When asked “In this manner, instead of considering it [giving up one’s body] as sAdhanam (means), will one reach the state of giving up one’s body due to overwhelming love for bhagavAn?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully responds.

Simple Explanation
If a person who is attached towards inapt [worldly] aspects aspires for it very eagerly, isn’t it obvious that a person who is attached towards the apt aspect (bhagavath vishayam) will aspire for the same?

That is – if a person who is attached to lowly matters which are inapt for the true nature of the self, will desire to achieve that matter even at the cost of his own life, for a person who is desirous towards the distinguished bhagavAn who is apt for his true nature, it is obvious that he will give up his own body for such bhagavAn, as per kim punar nyAyam (an axiom which means if one thing occurs another obvious thing will also occur).
It is a well known narrative that a man was very much attached to a prostitute; suddenly she was inflicted with a disease; at that time, he prayed to a dhEvathA saying “If she becomes cured of this disease, I will sever my head and offer to you”; as she became cured, he did as vowed towards that dhEvathA.
