avathArikai (Introduction)
To reveal the principle behind saying one should be like those personalities [identified in previous sUthram], piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains their nature sequentially. In that, to mercifully explain the nature of pirAtti and dhraupadhi, first he identifies the difference between them.
sUthram 81
pirAttikkum dhraupadhikkum vAchi, Sakthiyum aSakthiyum.
Simple Explanation
The difference between SrI mahAlakshmi and dhraupadhi is their ability and inability [respectively].
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
pirAttikkum …
That is, the difference between pirAtti who remained as said in SrI rAmAyaNam sundhara kANdam 39-30 “thath thasya sadhruSam bhavEth” ((sIthAppirAtti tells hanuman) if SrI rAma comes here and takes me with him after destroying lankA, it will be appropriate for his valour) and dhraupadhi who said as in mahAbhAratham “rakshamAm” (you have to protect me) – sIthAp pirAtti who eliminated the heat as in SrI rAmAyaNam sundhara kANdam 53.29 “SIthO bhava” (let the fire be cool on hanuman), could have easily said “dhagdhO bhava” (let this burn) and burnt down the enemies into dust and protected herself, she had the ability to do so; on the other hand, dhraupadhi did not have the ability to protect herself even if she wanted to punish her enemies and protect her.
