avathArikai (Introduction)
When asked “Though he is complete, will his completeness make the chEthana withdraw himself thinking ‘we cannot please him ever due to our emptiness’?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains.
sUthram 138
pUrthi, kaivAngAdhE mEl vizhugaikku hEthu iththanai.
Simple Explanation
His completeness is a reason for the chEthana to pursue bhagavAn instead of withdrawing from him.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
pUrthi …
That is – his avApthasamasthakAmathvam (not having any unfulfilled desires) will make the chEthana who is intent on surrendering to emperumAn think “He is such fully complete that he need not become satisfied with what we offer, but will become happy with whatever we offer” and pursue him with great eagerness instead of withdrawing from such surrender thinking “we can never please him”.
Alternative explanation.
When asked “Will his completeness let him become happy in this way? Will it not make him remain indifferent towards the chEthana and withdraw from him?” piLLai lOkAchAryar explains
pUrthi …
That is – his completeness will make him happily accept the chEthana, thinking “Is there anything more for the chEthana to do towards me than being favourable towards me?” rather than making him withdraw from accepting the chEthana thinking “he has not offered anything to me [matching my greatness]”
