avathArikai (Introduction)
When asked “How both will lovingly conduct these two aspects?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully explains.
sUthram 327
Sishyan thAn priyaththai nadaththak kadavan; ISvaranaik koNdu hithaththai nadaththak kadavan; AchAryan mARAdi nadaththak kadavan.
Simple Explanation
The Sishya should conduct what is desirable for the AchArya; he should conduct what is good for the AchArya through ISvaran; AchArya should do the reverse.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
Sishyan …
That is – while the Sishya conducts both aspects (desirable and good), considering that as per his own true nature, AchArya’s satisfied smile is the goal, he should always do what is desirable for his AchArya through his mite etc; since he is inclined towards performing mangaLASAsanam (praying for the well-being), he should pray to emperumAn saying “the AchArya should not be disturbed in his divine heart by the [cruel] nature of this world, and if ever he becomes disturbed, mercifully remove that disturbance” and should take care of the well-being through ISvaran.
AchAryarn mARAdi nadaththugai
Since the AchArya is focussed on the well-being of the Sishya, he orders the Sishya to not slip in the abandonable and pursuable aspects and conduct them properly, and will himself conduct the Sishya always by guiding him in the noble path; he will pray to ISvara saying “If he is very disturbed in worldly matters, he will not be able to practice the spiritual aspects; hence you should mercifully take care of his worldly needs as necessary” and conduct the Sishya’s desirable aspects through ISvaran.
