vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
nirgruNan …
That is – as the thiruththAyAr (AzhwAr in mother’s mood) started saying “What kind of mercy are you having? If honest and noble people [like you] are present in the town, helpless ladies can live comfortably [sarcasm]” as said in thiruvAimozhi 2.4.5 “ena thavaLavaNNar thagavugaLE” (In what manner do your qualities such as compassion etc exist?), due to emperumAn not helping while her daughter [parAngusa nAyaki] was suffering and before she could complete the sentence, to shut her mouth, the daughter said “Oh fool! Will he abandon his natural mercy? It is our fault that he has not helped” as said in thiruvAimozhi 2.4.6 “thagavudaiyavanE” (he is indeed merciful) and explained his merciful nature.
