AchArya hrudhayam

SrI:  SrImathE SatakOpAya nama:  SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama:  SrImath varavaramunayE nama: SrI vAnAchala mahAmunayE nama:

The term “AchArya” refers to nammAzhwAr who had overwhelming devotion towards SrIman nArAyaNa and also guided the entire world with his dhivya prabandhams. “hrudhayam” means heart. “AchArya hrudhayam” means the divine heart/thought of nammAzhwAr.

azhagiya maNavALap perumAL nAyanAr, the divine younger brother of piLLai lOkAchArya and the divine son of vadakkuth thiruvIdhip piLLai, wrote this beautiful grantham named “AchArya hrudhayam” bringing out the glories of nammAzhwAr, glories of his prabandhams and the deeper meanings of his thiruvAimozhi. nAyanAr has extensively used the words of AzhwArs and rishis (sages) in this grantham and has used very few words of his own. This grantham is celebrated as the most wonderful literature of our SrIvaishNava sampradhAyam.

maNavALa mAmunigaL also known as SrI varavaramuni has written a beautiful commentary for this wonderful grantham. Without the help of this commentary, it would be impossible to understand the complete meanings of this grantham.

SrImAn B R purushOththam nAidu has written a simple thamizh grantham based on the original text. We will be taking its help wherever necessary in our effort here.

Though this grantham is a very complicated one and is difficult to do true translation, I depend on the grace of our AzhwArs/AchAryas to do justice for the great value in the grantham.
